"Hmmm... sounds like she's in a state of traumatic shock. Let's have her lay down."
The nurse leads them to a bed of some sort, in another room nearby.
"For a situation like this, the patient may need a while until she is willing to feel safe or calm enough to resume an average state once more. How long this will take, I can't say for certain. She will likely need all the encouraging support she can get, so stay close to her."
The nurse glares at Theta again.
"would you mind explaining the donetiered individual with you?"
"another of my template, was with the patient during the incident. he had carried her quite a ways before collapsing from exhaustion. she has a higher than average weight level, and both of them had been visiting a dangerous location of personal importance."
"hmmm... for that one you can just toss him into the fountain in the cafeteria. Make sure both of you get back here soon."
Theta nods and quickly walks out of the room, towards the hallways.

Hypnos slowly puts Medi down into the bed, fixing her hair a little.
He slowly shakes his head.
"My dear poppy flower..."
His hushed, whispered voice was laced with sorrow and worry.

Meanwhile, Theta has arrived at the cafeteria. Quite a few students are here, sitting at various tables and filing in lines to order their food. It's almost always like this.
Theta approaches the energy recycler fountain in the center of the room and dumps link seth into it.
after a few seconds, he regains his form, and is soaking wet.
"...what the fuck was that for?"
"hey, i didn't want to leave you stuck in donetier. anyways, we better go back to the nurse's office. Medi needs us there for her."
Link Seth looks around at the cafeteria while climbing out of the fountain.
"Where are we right now?"
"oh, we're at the cafeteria at the school I go to."
"do they serve non-students? I could go for a hamburger right about now."
"I... think so? You'll need to have some cash though."
Link Seth checks his wallet. He happens to have 841 rupees on hand.
"...do they take game money here?"
"Probably."
Link seth walks over to the shortest line and waits his turn to order. It thankfully isn't too long of a wait.
He decides to order Medi a burger too. He's not sure if she likes cheeseburgers, but it's worth a shot. Maybe she'll feel a little better afterwards.
He returns to Theta with a to-go bag in his hand. In total he's ordered two cheeseburgers, two medium fries, and two medium size root beers, with less ice than usual by request. The total rang up to 1158 boons, which when converted to koholint rupees, turned out to be 116 rupees.
"Alright, let's go see Medi."
Soon enough Theta and Link Seth make it back to the nurse's office. They make their way into the room where Medi is at the moment.
"Medi, I got us some burgers. I thought you might want something to ea-WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU?!"
Link Seth points at Hypnos von Dusk and nearly almost drops the bag of fast food.
Theta facepalms, too embarrassed to even answer the question for him.

Hypnos puts down his hat, still looking at Medi with a sad look on his face.

Theta nods "...I figured as such when you appeared like that. Only makes sense that you would be one of her constructs, there for her in a time of need."
Link Seth tries to process exactly what the fuck is going on here.
"...right. As I was saying, I got her a burger to help her feel better. I'm guessing you'd know if she likes those or not, but here it is." He puts her cheeseburger, drink, and fries on the side table.

Hypnos smiles.
"How thoughtful of you..."
He rubs one of Medi's cheeks, as if trying to urge her to move.
"My lady, it would be wise to gather as much energy as you can...It would be a waste to let this boy's offering go untouched."
Medi's expression doesn't even change, but she does move...Unfortunately, it was to turn her head away from the three.
He sighs.
"I've never seen the young lady refuse something with cheese...This is more serious than I thought."

"oh shoot..." Theta takes out his decomposition book and takes notes.
"...this is all because of Chronos, isn't it? He's the reason why she's like this. I should have went after him while I still had the chance."
"Seth, I think you should tell us what exactly happened while you and Medi were in his domain. It may hold the key to how to help Medi recover from this stubborn state."
Link Seth takes a long look at her before answering "...alright, I'll tell you what I remember."
"When we arrived, it seemed just fine. We had to solve a few simple puzzles and avoid his bullshit traps and memes. We managed to get through those, but once we arrived in his chamber, everything went wrong."
Theta continues to listen while taking notes.
"...my anger got the best of me, and I charged straight for him. He disposed of me easily, trapping me in a box for hours on end. Everything outside moved so slow I could hardly tell if time was moving at all out there. I tried my best to counter it, but my time powers were no match for his. I tried every trick in the book to escape my prison, eventually resorting to explosives. Being in such a tight space, I was unable to escape the blast radius and soon wore myself out.
What exactly happened after that is a blur.
Eventually, he broke the glass in a display of power, and it was enough for me to try and find the strength to stand again. It took a long time for me to get back up, and by then, it was already too late. He had thrown her out the window and began lamenting that she didn't love him. I could tell he was probably just putting up a front for another one of his shitty lies, but I decided to use what energy I had to tell him off for his selfish behavior.
I told him about the fight, hoping that he would either stop whatever is there, or doubledie trying. I let him wander off to tend to Medi, who was already like this.
I think it's lucky that I managed to get her flower back before Chronos was gonna take off with it... wait, where did her flower go? She had it when I carried her to Theta's boat..."
"wait, chronos is on the loose? i better warn the others." Theta pulls out his laptop and begins typing out a message...

As Hypnos had listened to Link Seth's explanation to their predicament, his face gradually changed from an expression of worry...to one of anger.
"The nerve of that man...No...That monster..."
His scarf hands, er...claws? tighten into fists. The one eye that isn't covered by the mess of his green hair faintly glows a bright red.
"Not only does he manipulate the little lady into holding onto a weapon that was clearly a key to one of his crackpot schemes, abandoning her once he's had is way...He has the gall, the gall, to mock her desperate, misguided affection when he meets her again in the afterlife!? Why, if I was a proper fighter....I'd bring him down myself..."
He glances back to Medi, calming down a little.
"...Who knows what the young lady is thinking...She still must be blaming herself for all of this..."

A slight bit of frustration is growing within Link Seth. "Why the fuck would she blame herself when that bonehead bitch is the one who organized everything? When he was the one who fucking manipulated her?"
"You'd be surprised..." Theta is currently still typing something on his laptop.

"Usually, I would not bring myself to reveal the lady's secrets, even if I was threatened with oblivion...But...I believe it would be for the best that I let you know."
Hypnos turns to the two, but his eyes are glancing down to the floor.
"She was told numerous times, on numerous occasions, that the mace was bad news and she should have abandoned it...She had so many opportunities to leave it, but in all those times, she chose to keep it. She believed that it was all she had left.
She felt as if the others would never trust her, with or without the mace. And you...she thought you already would have forgotten about her. That mace was her only reason to keep herself alive, thinking that someday, something good would come out of it. I don't know what she would have expected from it. Maybe she wanted praise? Perhaps she only wanted someone to remember her as someone worth remembering. Maybe she wanted more than that...
...But look at where that brought her. Abandoned by the last person she gave her trust to, with blood on her hands that she can never clean. Of course she would think she could only blame herself for this mess."
His face scrunches up, feeling guilt like no other.
"...It took me ages to comfort her during her first moments in the afterlife...Had I been given life during that time she was alive, perhaps she would have never gone down that path."

Theta pats Hypnos von Dusk on the back. He may not be entirely involved in this, but after seeing the ordeal of her final moments and now hearing the full context, he at least feels sorry for her and her friend.
"You must have had a hard time with her... I can only imagine her turmoil... you're probably one of the best friends she could ever ask for."
Meanwhile, Link Seth is absolutely livid. "All that, and she STILL was convinced that it was her fault?! CHRONOS FUCKING MANIPULATED HER WITH THAT MACE! I've held that very same mace in my hands before, and I could tell there was something about it. I couldn't tell what at the time, but I'm sure now that part of him was in that mace, telling her shit to suit his needs, and ultimately make her bring his plan to fruition. HE TOOK HER WHEN SHE WAS WEAK AND USED HER! AND FOR THAT, I'LL NEVER FORGIVE THAT BASTARD!"
An emotometer on the other side of the room is picking up a very high reading from Link Seth.
Theta hides behind his laptop, and notices a reply to his message.
"um, if it makes you feel any better, Zwei, another Kat that Medi knows, is just as angry as you are, Seth. Should I tell her to commence with kicking his ass, or tell her to wait for you?"
"She can start any time she wants. I want him to suffer as much as possible."
Theta sighs. He has the slightest feeling that this is not how to do proper conflict management...

Link Seth is startled slightly "...Medi! Don't you worry, I'll make sure everything is all right again." He then turns to Theta. "Tell Zwei on there that Medi responded to hearing about her."
"I'm already on it." Theta types away.

Hypnos seems more uneasy than usual.
"Lady Zwei...She had been the first person the young lady met during her time in the afterlife. They connected quite easily...at least, at first. They started to drift apart after a set of arguments...But even as Zwei became obsessed with revenge, she could never bring herself to hurt Eins."
He reaches over to Medi and holds her hand.
"But...Would punishing the one responsible really fix anything? Even when that happens, the damage had already been done...What good will revenge do now?"

"Maybe it would give them a chance to burn off all that anger? I'm just trying to help out here." Theta explains while typing out another post to Zwei.
"Who fucking cares?" Link Seth offers his opinion.
The substitute nurse walks back in, glaring at link Seth.
He flips her off.
"Sir, I'm going to have to ask you to leave. Your anger levels are interfering with some of the equipment here, not to mention how rude you are behaving on school property."
"You're not gonna make me leave Medi's side."
"Seth, you might not know this, thanks to your home-schooled background, but most schools tend to frown upon swearing and obstructive behavior."
Link Seth huffs and pulls out his cheeseburger from the bag. He takes a fierce bite out of the burger and chews it with gusto.
The cheeseburger reminds him of the last one he had, back in the session.
He and his father took a trip to Nakburger, a fast food restaurant ran by nakkadiles on his land.
It was one of those few moments when things almost seemed... normal between them. He had promised to take him out here after one of his assassination tasks.
...That fucking abusive manipulator.
The burger has failed to improve link seth's mood.
He sucks down his root beer quite quickly, until only the smaller than usual amount of ice remains.
The cavernously empty noise of the straw gasping for liquid can be heard.
