A silhouetted figure reclines against the wall of an elevator. "If the chick cannot leave its shell, it will die, without truly being born..." SJmun recites something commonly repeated in nearly every episode of Revolutionary Girl Utena. She walks out of the elevator and enters the office. She walks past her cubicle and over to the far window.
She stares out the window, and then down at her old sketchbook in hand.
"Am I... really holding her back? I want to do what I can for her... but are my own wishes getting in the way?" She looks behind herself, back to the quiet empty office building.
"Nyx told me... Kat's gotta move on from this tired setting we've been writing for. That if she cast this world aside, and moved to a more populated one... things would be better for her..." Niki glances back down at her sketchbook, conflicted. "...even now, I still don't know what Kat really wants here... I'm still not sure what I should do to help her... I wish I knew..."
She stands there, lost in thought and concern.
Hours later...
She returns to her cubicle, busy at her computer. Armed with the knowledge that she does want to stay, but really wants the place to be more populated, at least now Niki knows what sort of direction to take. Letting the setting fall into ruin when it's cherished so much by her and Kat cannot be an option. While Nyx may be accustomed to burning every bridge she's ever crossed, it doesn't work for everyone. Sometimes it's nice to have a home to return to... though it's nicer when there's more than one or two people living there with you.
With the imperative need to wake up earlier for work than usual, SJmun decides to sleep in her cubicle for the night. Her laptop sits in its time-worn bag, waiting to be taken with in the morning.

A vending machine has appeared in the hallway. Inside, is a single toblerone.
SJmun has been thinking about getting it. However, such a treat comes with authorship responsibility. Decisions made with the triangular chocolates cannot be squandered or misused. Or, at least, that's what they think.
The gender of a character close to their heart hangs in the balance.
The question remains: Should Seth be nonbinary?
SJmun still wonders why they returned to this building. is it merely nostalgia? A need for safety in turbulent times?
...or had the toblerone lead them here?
It's hard enough for them to affirm and defend their own gender, let alone someone that they write for. It's even harder considering that there's barely even anything that this particular character is going to be written in any time soon. SJmun almost just wants to leave Seth behind... but something prevents them from abandoning Seth completely.
...why is this so hard?
the lone toblerone sits in the vending machine, waiting.

From the approval of one, SJmun finally manages to obtain the courage to go through with it. With a bitcoin in hand, they approach the vending machine.
The toblerone is claimed.
SJmun can feel the weight and power carried through the candybar. They close their eyes and point it up towards the sky, not unlike a magic wand. "I hereby declare, Seth Emit, heir of time, is non-binary!"
Chaotic energies burst forth from the toblerone, shaking the entire building!
Soon enough, the smoke clears, and canon has been written.
It will only be a matter of time before Seth becomes aware of this truth, and begins their journey.
