Niki just sorta gives Charles some kinda look like 'seriously'?

She sighs.
"At least it seems he's mostly over that after finding out about planet Korous and the Temporic people. ➜"
"So, how was your trip, Ben? I see you've got quite the crew with you here. ➜"

Ben just sorta blinked. "uh... yeah. seems like you've been busy." He cleared his throat. "honestly, i wish i had a good excuse for just up and leaving like i did. the truth is..." He sighed. "the truth is i was stressed. lame reason i know. even though i had decided not to treat myself as a god... the responsibility was still a little too much for me. so... i took my ship, and i left." He gestured to Caim. "i already knew this guy, so i gave him his tape and got him to agree to let me in on his life. so, me, caim, and amy just sorta... did our thing. acting just outside the law, but never hurting anybody who didn't deserve it."
The mole girl piped up. "Aren't you forgetting someone?"
Ben chuckled. "i was getting to that. this is loam. she's a mechanic. i hired her to work on the ship, but turns out she has some experience with prosthetics too." He held up his arm - though it should have been his bionic arm, it looked like natural flesh. "this is my stealth arm. looks like it's just a regular, non-prosthetic arm, but it's got all kinds of stealth-related gadgets in there too - jammers, radars, theres even tranqs in here if i really need 'em. she made me some other arms, too, with a whole bunch of functions."

Niki takes a good look at that stealth arm. She could appreciate the craftsmanship on that thing. Like, dude that's one sweet fake arm.
"Huh, so that sorta thing. It looks like you guys have had some fun while you were out. ➜"
She smiles lightly. Niki can't bring herself to be mad at Ben, he actually went out there and did something for himself instead of linger around starter, and she could accept that.
"I trust you at least weren't cheating on me? No visits to any weird space brothels? ➜" It almost comes off as a joke, but it seems to be a legit question either way.

Caim scoffed. "Just 'cause you have a cool time-traveling goddess girlfriend doesn't mean you can't have a little fun sometimes..."

Niki laughs and smiles. After a moment, she finally spoke up again.
"So.... what are your plans now? Are you planning on going off to unknown lands again? Sticking around here? Maybe joining me and a couple regulars on an expedition soon? ➜"

She perks up with enthusiasm.
"Yeah! I mentioned it slightly, but me, Seth, Elsey, and probably Mike are planning on taking a trip to Korous, that planet that Chronos engineered the development of while I was gone. We're mostly just gonna be sightseeing, maybe hop to a couple different time periods here and there. I've been doing research beforehand to avoid getting into weird cultural messes, though I think I've probably studied up enough to have a decent primer at how things went over there. ➜"
"Only thing really holding it up is the fact that I can't drive and Kat doesn't want to get preoccupied with her projects on her ship. This is not to mention I doubt Seth has even driven a car before, let alone a space ship, and Mike seems to kinda do his own thing most of the time. ➜"

She doesn't even care if the GTA analogy doesn't translate completely, but then again, it's the only place she's ever experienced running away from the law.

She sighs. "well, at least where we're going, they haven't really branched out into space until pretty close to the end of their planet's habitability cycle, not to mention how oddly remote they seem to be from too many neighbors. ➜"
Niki pauses for a second before her next inquiry.
"...hey, how about we go to my place for dinner? I can whip something nice up probably. ➜"
