She glances off in the direction of the forest. A bell tower can be seen sticking out of a clearing.

And so, they went off to her house for dinner that night, with the crewmembers. How exactly they got there, I'm guessing they walked or the mole had to hitch a ride while the others flew, I have no idea.
Either way, they got there and ate dinner, which surprisingly wasn't a bunch of duplicated tv dinners (seriously, Niki's fridge is practically stacked with thosed).
It was canned green beans, instant mashed potatoes, and grilled steakfruit. Steakfruit harvesting season was a couple months ago but Niki had a bunch saved in the freezer for whenever.
Niki finished her meal fairly quickly. She gets up from her seat to take her plate to the sink.
"Man, it's been a while since I've gotten to cook for anyone. Did you guys enjoy your meal?➜"

Charles had left a while ago, saying that he had things to do. Then again, it could have just been him trying to avoid the steakfruit, who knows.

She washes off her plate and sticks it on the dish rack thing to dry. On the way back to the table, notification noise from her glassestop makes a noise.
"huh, a message on the message board. ➜"
Niki checks the message board with her glasses and just sorta stands there with her mouth open.
"... ➜"

There is a muffled explosion from Niki's house, followed by screaming.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAa ➜"
In her project room, Niki is on the floor, hand over her eyes. There is some blood and shards of a broken pair of glasses. She is clearly in pain.

The door is unlocked. Does she ever even lock her front door?

Niki is still on the floor making annoying noises from the project room, which should be pretty easy to get to from the main room.

Kat's magic works like a charm and whatever gross unmentionable damage that was there on Niki's face has been undone.
"uuuughh..... ➜" Niki sits up and looks up at Kat.
"...um, when did you get here, Kat? I think I was just about to type something out and then... ➜" she looks around, some of the shrapnel is still on the ground. "...what happened?? ➜"

"...darn it. I knew this was going to happen eventually! I forgot the dumb lock-out thing that was placed on there. Apparently if the viewer tries to view something with content that might alter the course of the timeline due to their resulting actions, the thing is set to disable the viewer from using it in any way possible... ➜"
Niki sighs heavily. "Now I'm pretty much locked out of using the viewport on anything, even if it gets fixed. We're stuck going in blind now. ➜"
She uncaptchas a spare pair of glasses and puts them on, they don't light up, they're just regular glasses.

I managed to get a lock on Elsey's current timeframe a bit earlier. Month 6, Year 448, Day 23. Last time I checked on her, she was in the back of a pickup truck somewhere. If she went to the right place for the duel, she should be somewhere in Canyon City. ➜"
Niki takes a moment to think.
"...We might be able to hop to the ship's location over then if we get to a time when it was parked around here, though that would mean we'd have to do some extra searching for her around town... if we can get her to set up a more immediate anchor we could get straight to her location... Do you have any better ideas? ➜"

"Actually, I've been trying to get some costume stuff put together. I bought some cool reptile-style costume contacts at the spaceport that might work and I made some paper mache horns... they kinda suck but this is what happens when you leave me alone for a week. ➜"
Niki walks over to one of the cluttered tables and picks up a pair of paper mache horns glued precariously onto a plastic headband. They look like they could fall apart at any moment. aluminum foil can be sen in the hollow interior. "Um... I also have a bunch of scarves and stuff too. And hats. Lots of hats. ➜" She puts the fragile fake horns down.

"um.... okay? ➜" she puts on the horns and tries to visualize what she'd look like if she were a temporic. Not that much of a difference, just a lot paler and with the appropriate physical features.
Niki walks over to a full-size mirror somewhere in the room to see if the illusion works.
