"Probably the message board. Let me turn on my main computer over here. ➜" Niki walks over to her main computer and turns it on. It beeps and the boot sequence does its thing until the windows 7 startup sound plays. A picture of a frozen ocean is on the desktop. The icons are fairly neatly arranged in a way that allows you to actually see the picture. One of them happens to be rpg maker 2003. Niki doubleclicks on Chrome and navigates to the message board. "I'm gonna type some stuff out now. ➜"

"Oh yeah, that's a good idea! Nobody would dare to remove any sort of neckgear in public, due to cultural reasons, so that would be perfect! My scarf collection is over there next to that hat pile if you wanna pick some out. ➜"
Next to the fairly prominent hat pile, there's a couple of winter scarves, as well as some more suited for lighter weather, in quite a few simple bright colors and patterns. Some are fuzzy and some are just made of a light cotton fabric. There's a poorly sewn 3-layer cravat also in there for some odd reason.
"I should probably put one on too, but I'll do that later. ➜"

Meanwhile across the village, a muffled door slam can faintly be heard from Kim's basement. Probably only those actually nearby can hear it, though.
A few minutes later, a suspiciously bearded-looking person in orange clothing exits, trying to remember the way to Niki's house.

 Seth appears in the town square in a red flash. He's glad he checked the weather beforehand. Thankfully when time travel is involved, there's a lot more room for preparation, as long as you're still focused on your task of course. Not wanting to stay out in the cold for too long, he makes his way towards the bar. "...Hello? Kat? Anybody? Is this even the right fucking timezone?" He walks the rest of the way in and finds a place to sit down. It's a bit chilly and abandoned looking, but the place is at least less unbearable than outside. Seth suddenly feels something from Thoren. Some compassion, followed by a slight use of fire magic, changed over to something less warm and more dark. The magic usage quits after a moment. He wonders if he can try and imitate the same kind of sensations to do fire magic. There's a fireplace that looks like it could be lit. Seth closes his eyes and focuses his energy in the same way Thoren did moments ago, minus the dark swap-over. Holding out his hand, a warm red flame sparks out of thin air! It's somewhat straining to keep it lit for too long, but after a couple seconds he tosses the fireball into the fireplace. The fireball catches the wood on fire and begins burning normally. It's a bit weak, but for a first shot, it doesn't seem too bad. Seth places a couple logs into the fire and sits down in his usual spot nearby. It's a bit tiring, but satisfying to see successful results. |

An hour or so earlier...
Niki walks out of her house and pulls out a notepad with some timestamps written on it. From what she can tell, Kimura and Nak are in the same general timeframe. A sphere of numbers surrounds her and she disappears.
9 something PM, same day...
Niki appears in the square and looks for Kimura and Nak, waving her arms around.
"Hey guys, I'm here! I'll take you all to the right timeframe for this thing! ➜"

"oh, sup." Kimura waves at her, walking over. "it's been a while since I've been here, so yeah, a time-shortcut would be appreciated."
((no time to draw an updated ref because taiko practice tonight, I'll worry about it later. just imagine he's wearing a Middle Earth style adventurer outfit, in Light Player yellow-and-orange colors, with a short beard that an illusion-aware person would know isn't actually real. that's... really all I got at this point.))

Seth is still sitting by the fire in the bar. He hears the doors swing open from across the room. Somebody is here.
Seth stands up and cautiously walks towards the inner doorway.
Upon seeing Kat, a relieved smile appears on his face.
"Kat! I'm so glad you're here! It feels like it's been so long even though it's only been a day. You gotta see the badass trick I learned earlier! I can do fucking fire magic now! I lit the fireplace in here without matches or a lighter or anything! I'm not sure how much I can do at once, but I think I can probably get better at it!" He excitedly attempts to lead Kat into the main area of the bar, near the lit fireplace, to show off his handiwork.
He seems about as jumpy as a small child.
If there is anything different about her appearance, he's obviously too busy trying to show off to notice.

Meanwhile back in the relative future...
Niki is talking with Kimura, though hasn't quite noticed anyone else in the area yet. She's currently not wearing the illusionhorns, so she looks about the same as usual.
"...whoa, kim, is that you? Man, it's been a while! Nice beard! ➜"
"I would have picked you up sooner, but I couldn't prevent you from making a forum post at 9pm after it showed up, and from the context it seemed like you were still waiting so I had to go along with that. I hope you understand. ➜"
She takes a quick glance around for anyone else.
"Have you seen Nak around here? I saw he posted in the same general timeframe, but I can't quite find him... ➜"

Still in the bar while it's still almost 5...
Seth shows Kat the fireplace. To be honest, there doesn't seem to be anything special about it, since at this point it's just burning regular wood with regular fire.
"...Let me show you what I can do. Stand back a little." Seth walks back a couple paces, somewhere without any tables or chairs. He closes his eyes and tries to focus on the feelings that helped him generate the flame the first time, holding his hand out.
It takes a moment, but a small spastic flame sputters from his palm for a couple seconds. He shows it to her, grinning from ear to ear. "See?"
Then he finally notices it.
Something seems different about her... though he can't seem to put his finger on it. She looks perfectly normal, doesn't she?
"did you... get a haircut today?" The fire in his hand sizzles out as he tries to figure out what seems so out of place with her.

The vaguely amphibious lizard himself shimmers into the square centre in a particularly void-y way, adorned with what is very obviously several hats stitched together to turn what was once probably a crown into a metre-tall monstrosity topped with what could be called a mitre, if one were to squint and tilt their head to the right.

Seth takes another good look at her. He calls out for Thoren internally. He's been surrounded by enough Kats to figure this one out surely. It's a bit difficult to pack what he sees into feelings that he can describe for him to use.
Something very familiar, yet somehow off...
Thoren studies one of the closer Kats on his side and sends back his notes.
Cute, trustworthy, I wonder if there's one out there tha-NO NOT SENDING THΔT ONE
The last note is partially shrouded in desperate secrecy. It seemed to have been covering up a curious but wishful thought.
Seth compares what notes he has, and they seem mostly unhelpful. This Kat is also cute and trustworthy. Maybe even cuter than she was before.
Wait a minute. This might be a key point here.
"I'm not sure... but you just look... really cute in that outfit?"
why is he blushing so much right now he looks like he's still outside with how pink his cheeks are at this point.
"a-anyways, I'm, glad to see you again."

Seth takes a deep breath and tries to get his bearings again. He'll probably figure out the glaringly obvious thing with Kat later.
"...yeah. I've made sure to pack all sorts of shit. I packed a fuckton of outfits, my bowl of endless macaroni, all the pillows and blankets we could ever need, a box for collecting rocks in..." Thoren reacts in disgust to the mention of the macaroni, but Seth ignores it. Besides, it's for emergency rations.
"Where is everybody else anyways? Didn't Niki say some shit about meeting up around here on the message board?"
