Sure enough, deep in the foliage of the forest was a girl curled up on the tall grass, weeping.
But the atmosphere seemed colder than before. Something about this isn't right.

The messenger, along with Katie, eventually reaches and spots the sobbing girl. He looks at her, confused and concerned.
"...hey. are you alright? do you need any help?" the messenger asks.
Meanwhile, back in the clearing, Kusari takes a moment to sit down and disassociate for a little while. He stares off at nothing in particular, still lost in thought, or perhaps lack of thought. It's hard to tell.

Soon after they spoke, the figure screams, sitting up.
The girl's limbs were fake and seemed crudely attached, blood caked around the places they're attached to.
"S...stay away...! Stay-"
But before she could say more, countless shining strings shot out of the ground without warning beneath her, aiming to trap the group in a web of them.

The messenger is taken by surprise, despite anticipating an ambush.
"ahh!" he attempts to run the other way, but stumbles.

Katie's reaction speed was unreasonably fast. It was almost like an incredibly optimized computer program... oh, wait, that's literally what it was. Thanks, implants.
In an instant, her sword was drawn. It wasn't her normal weapon of Ares either, it was something a lot... darker. Grimdark, almost, but more just Edgy. It was Vanta Black, glowing with purple energy. Her sword of abject cruelty, alchemized during the darkest period of her life, swung with ludicrous speed. Her Blade of Good's Bane tried to slash right through the shining strings.

Katie manages to slice the strings without problem, but the messenger is tangled and is promptly and quickly dragged deeper into the forest.
The girl sits there, unaffected, but is still visibly shaken.
Upon a closer inspection...she's wearing some kind of bloody blindfold.

"aaaAAAAAAAA!!!!!!" The messenger screams in terror as he is dragged away, grasping desperately at the dirt for somewhere to claw his way away from his holdings. Unfortunately, all he gets are streaks in the dirt where his fingers dragged across the ground, not unlike the marks made by a rake used in a sand garden.
This familiar scream jolts Kusari out of his daze and prompts him to action. He quickly runs towards the strings, scythe at the ready to strike whatever may approach him

Katie tries to throw the Messenger her sword before he's dragged away forever, before trying to help the girl up.

The messenger is freaked the fuck out by the pitch black blade of darkness hurtling towards him and does not catch it. Kusari continues his pursuit, going around the edgelord's sword that's now on the ground.

"Alright, you can get him then Kusari." Katie said, outstretching her other hand and stuffing the sword back into her Specibus once it had pulled itself out of the ground and returned to her.

The girl attempts to stand, but promptly stumbles, unable to even control her limbs as properly as she should. She's still freaking out.
"Stay away...d-don't touch me...!!"
The tangled messenger, meanwhile, is hoisted up into the...incredibly tall trees. Like, really high up.
