Fannie scoots back, clearly afraid of Elsey's wrath. It's quite clear to her now that Charles is in fact the meddler. Considering Seth's exclamation earlier, it makes perfect sense. She decides not to answer his question about the paradox machina. Too much risk. "Um... Charles, I don't think I should answer your questions, for the sake of various things held dear." She then turns to Katie. "I've already told most of that story. Let me see if I can remember any more of it..." Fannie tries to think for a moment, though Elsey's violent vision has shocked and startled her, and it seems to be making it difficult to focus...

"...I'll... just go. Message me on the boards if you want any of the gates, though I can understand if you don't."
Charles walks over to the transportalizer, and warps back to the hall he was on, before exiting through the cardboard box.
Back to staying out of the way it is.

Elsey smiles. Good, the less information Charles gets, the better. After all, he was a source of misfortune; and the more things he learns, the more misfortune he causes.
Satisfied with this, she reaches into her pocket and takes out a handful of candy, taking one small lollipop and putting the rest on the table.
No more distractions. No more people who would probably make things worse. Finally some time to relax.

It takes a while, but Fannie finally gathers her thoughts enough to add more to the story from memory. "Alright Katie, I think I got it now. Let me tell you of the bumbler." She decides not to make it fancy this time, and just tells it with words. "Chronos, with his mastery over time and space, had an excellent sense of when something irregular happened to the timeline. While there were many who took routes that were not entirely forwards, there were some that attempted to take these routes with disastrous results. Many of them met their ends upon reaching these incongruent outcomes. But, there was one, that despite having little skill, through trial and error, managed to persist. She is known as the bumbler. With every erroneous move she took, it caused Chronos to feel pain. It is said that he engineered a way to seal the bumbler in a deep pit for many dirbacycles. For a short time, he was rid of the nuicence. It is unknown why he did not send the heir after the bumbler. It's been speculated that it was a concern for his safety, or perhaps that the misusages of the gift were only after the heir's exile. As far as the texts say, little was mentioned of the bumbler after that, though during the ultimate battle that caused his death, the bumbler and many others had summoned the many loose threads they had pulled from the timespace fabric to assist in fighting against him."

"The Bumbler, huh? Well, I'm sure there's more interesting people from the legend here, but... She'd be me if you were interested in knowing."

The ship detects a subspace disturbance, from another ship approaching at superluminal speeds. This might cause alarms to go off to alert the captain.

"I figured." Fannie remarks casually. She wonders if they all have such highly inflated egos...

Meanwhile, Niki is in the kitchen with Kat. She looks around to see where everything is first. "you know um, I'm not sure if temporics can even process dairy. Like, considering they like, don't have boobs so like, they probably don't produce milk or whatever? ➜" She does a quick google search on her glasses for "can you feed dairy to reptiles", for lack of a better resource on hand. Well, technically she could try another used earlier, but she kinda forgot about it.
Nevertheless, she gets answers anyways. "...it says pretty much all reptiles are lactose intolerant, but might be able to handle small amounts of yogurt. I'm guessing temporics are reptiles of some sort. Only question is then, why the heck would they have a tradition involving mac and cheese??? ➜"

Elsey laughs a little. "It's a little strange for us to be so excited about a story written by the person who made our life shit; but to be honest, we haven't had anything happen for us for a long while.
A thought. A question. "You know, I kind of doubt he knows about some other timelines. And if he did, I doubt he's bothered to have them written down."
Kat seems to be taking out a number of ingredients from the pantries and fridges. "Yeah, that is kind of odd...I just hope she doesn't get sick..."
Something on her person beeps. She picks it up.
"Hm? An incoming ship? Uhh, scoot the ship a little away from the spot they're going to appear from. Let's wait before we try to contact them." And the ship moves away from the planet, and away from the spot where the incoming spaceship will appear.

The ship pops out of its FTL Mode: The first thing that can be noticed is that it is a /hunk of junk/. Literally. It seems to be a ship stitched together from wreckage, and then painted a purplish blue shade. The second thing is that it is /big/. It might not be the size of a colony ship or ships like the enterprise, but it is still very large. Oddly enough, the ship doesn't seem to have any shields what so ever, as can be indicated by the dents from micrometeor collisions, so the victorian should be able to pick up the singular lifesign on the ship... as well as its lack of atmosphere except for a few rooms in particular.
The ship begins to attempt to hail the Victorian, but the radio signal seems to be analog, and not digital.

*DeusEX easily picks up the analog signal, converting and retransmitting it as digital.
Katie smiles awkwardly. "Sorry.. It's just, I've always felt like I was just completely useless and ignored in regards to the main stuff, so knowing there's a story about me makes me feel good. Sure, it'd be nice to not be known singularly as a massive screwup, but it's nice to be recognised all the same. I'm sorry that we aren't as cool as the stories might make us out to be."

Fannie ponders that for a moment, and then something clicks. "I, never really thought about it that way. The more I see you all, just acting normal, the less most of you seem to extrude the sort of legendary qualities I had always imagined. It may be quite embarrassing knowing all this now, I never really thought of you all within the stories as... actual people I guess? More of just... characters meant to convey a lesson or present a hardship, if that makes any sense."

Niki seems kinda clueless on what to do. "so um, should I, like, chop up the dogs? Grate the cheese? Which things do I need to do here? ➜" she seems to have the slight urge to skip this and just get to the part where they have the macaroni prepared and everything, but she decides it would be kinda boring to timeskip while cooking.

The analog signal is converted, to an audio only digital signal.
"This is Charles of the Light Bringer. Requesting permission to dock."
The voice sounds sort of like it is Charles, but he also sounds... older.
