Seth takes a deep breath and leaps into the vortex, fading into a red afterimaged silhouette.
Seth is falling into the timestream. Red electricity is everywhere around him, making his hair stand up on end. His horn and a half are trying to keep track of the rapidly changing time, but with one of them broken, it seems difficult to confirm much with them. The stress makes his busted horn bleed a little, though it is caught by the scarf. He is so glad he picked out a red one.
The other end of the vortex seems to be far below.

Before Elsey hops in, she directs one of her hands upwards, dispersing into a large wave of magic that washes over the entire room. While everyone just feels a pulse of energy akin to a warm breeze, it was more as to kill off whatever of those Flesh Eating Nanomachines were left. They might ravage the entite planet, and she definitely cannot allow that.
She refuses to take any chances with Charles' technology. Even if he says that he had nothing to do with it.
Remembering that Seth had alteady gone ahead, she jumps in after him.
The next moments were the strangest feelings that she had ever experienced.
Flying through the timestream was definitely something she wouldnt have expected, but it didn't matter as long as she ends up in the right place.

Trying not to look at the gruesome scene across the stage, Fannie closes her eyes, runs forwards, and leaps into the vortex.
After Fannie, Elsey, Seth, Niki, Nak, and Kimura enter, the vortex begins to close behind them.

A few years ago, but not many...
*Azure stumbles upon xenobiological footage that probably shouldn't be on television. They can see it, but I'm sure as heck not describing what it looks like.
Fast forward a couple months would reveal something I'm actually willing to describe onscreen.
Canyon City, Buckaroo hospital. Room 137.
The date is month 9, day 4, year 445.
A football sized egg is on a heating pad. The apparent parents are watching intently, holding hands.
The egg breaks open like wax paper. A tiny porcelain white hand is sticking out.
The parents are overjoyed as their baby flails toward the light, eventually making its way out of the egg.
They name their baby after the name of the current month (a fairly common practice among grand desert region temporics): Fantina. There doesn't appear to be anything particularly out of the ordinary in the visible area.
The parents take turns holding the baby, Skidor getting first dibs (thanks to winning a duel weeks earlier to take on the guardian role).
Everything seems just fine.

The sphere of numbers dissolves around them to reveal...
They are no longer in the shrine they were in before. The marked tile on the ground is in the same spot, marker marks largely worn away by time.
They appear to be in a spacious storage room of sorts. Sturdy boxes and crates go up a fair amount of feet. A musty scent fills the air. Faint light filters from the high windows, more so from the hanging lamps than anything.
Niki looks around and is stunned in her embarrassment.
"...this was not supposed to happen. ->"

Seth glares at Niki. "Why. The fuck. Are we in the fucking warehouse from Raiders of the Lost Ark?!"

Elsey, meanwhile, immediately looks to see if there's anyone watching.

Niki takes off her duct tape cape and captchalogues it away. She replaces it with her brown vest. After doing so, she examines the area a little bit more. "Somebody must have moved the anchor... I thought 'forbidden tile' was supposed to imply that it's not supposed to be touched, so I thought it would be safe... ->" she turns to face Fannie. "Do you have any insight on this? You know your town and local history better than any of us here I'm sure. ->"

"Wait, I remember reading a news article a while back. It mentioned something about the tilework in the shrine being replaced and refurbished after hundreds of years of wear and foot traffic. I'm guessing they even replaced the forbidden tile... which kinda defeats the point of it in the first place, considering what you guys were trying to use it for... unless..." a pause until something clicks.
"Do you guys think maybe, somebody against us is behind the tile's removal?"
The place seems mostly nondescript in its appearance, nothing at eye level really revealing anything in particular. There doesn't appear to be anyone else in the area. Hallways stretch left and right past numerous crates glued shut.

"I wouldn't put it past the Cult...Although...I think I may know exactly who pulled this stunt."
She pulls out a ball of light.
"Stay close, keep aware of your surroundings. We're in unfamiliar ground, a perfect place for someone to strike."
Kat can't help but worry.
"You mean..."
"This may be something the Maid may have done. I can't prove it, but it's the most likely case."

Niki follows behind, making sure to keep a safe distance from Seth, just in case. She does not want to be subject to his wrath when he is in a bad mood.
There appears to be a door with a lit EXIT sign not too far ahead.

Noticing the sign and the door, Elsey briskly walks to it.
Slowly, slowly, slowly, she tries to open a little. Enough to take a small peek of what may lie beyond.
