Theta looks over at the diary. It appears to be identical to one used by the seths of the beta timeline.
He hadn't looked the actual page content over much, in respect for their privacy. It's one of those things you just shouldn't compromise when dealing with one of them. Theta should know, he is a seth after all.
He finally gives it a look over on the pages it had landed on. Theta begins to somewhat understand a few things.
Mainly, who her friend was.
Theta looks to the rather large hole in the egg. He had been in there before with a few others. He vaguely remembers the correct path.
There might be a seth waiting in there to be found.
"Would it be alright if I tried to enter the egg? I've been able to gain access before." Theta asks her. It's always a good idea to ask permission before interacting with the contents of another's memories. Who knows what dark secrets may be be hidden in plain sight.

Medi steps aside, holding the mace closely, trembling.
She definitely doesn't like where this is going.

Theta walks towards the open doorway of the cracked egg, much like he did the first time.
He walks inside and asserts the genuine nature of his template.
It worked before, it should work again.

The entrance provides no resistance to entry.
Medi looks on, a little scared.

"Well, I don't want to leave you alone here. Maybe with my help you can enter too?" Theta looks over at her from the egg temple entrance. "You don't have to if you don't want to though. It's all up to you."

Medi inches closer towards the opening, very much afraid.
On one hand, she really doesn't want to find out what happened...But she's just so curious...
She may as well take whatever horror may come now than spend eternity not knowing.

Theta takes her hand and walks with her into the egg. They walk inside and everything is dark. The ocean can be heard somehow louder than usual, yet it is still almost silent. Their footsteps echo off of the oddly shaped tile flooring and the vaulted eggshell ceiling supposedly above them, hiding amidst a veil of shadow. "Wait... I remember it was a lot brighter in here... then again the Seth of that timeline was alive at the time. Might have something to do with it. Something doesn't seem right though..." |

Medi keeps quiet as she makes her way inside.
She's noticeably shaking.

"This place was generated from your memories, and likely some of mine to fill in the gaps as well. It only makes sense that it would be familiar." Theta looks over at Medi, clearly noticing her shaking.
That's usually not a good sign.
"...do you think you'll be strong enough to continue? We can always leave if this place is troubling you too much."
Always let them know they have options. Sometimes they just aren't ready to face their fears.
That's another thing about dying memories. They can often leave marks beyond just the physically fatal.
The exit is still just a couple steps away...

Medi shakes her head and tries to calm herself.
"N-no...I can...I can do this..."
She looks around the darkness...Her expression is still sour.
"I just...I just remembered...Panicking here...trying to find a way forward....That's all...For a long while, no matter where I went, I ended up back at the start..."

"That is something about this egg. Thankfully, I happen to have the directions on hand." Theta pulls out a book called "Dark Mysteries and Secrets of Koholint", along with a flashlight.
"It says we need to go east first." Theta walks towards where the east doorway would be... and bumps into a wall.
"there was a doorway last time I was here..." He shines the flashlight around and it appears the only doorway is the north doorway.
"it looks like there's only one way forwards here." Theta begins walking towards it, deliberately waiting for Medi to catch up.

The path has changed...
Was this because of her memories...? Or was this something else?

Theta is a bit unnerved about this.
"...this usually doesn't happen, but, there must be a reason."
They arrive in the next room. Theta shines his flashlight. There appears to be an abrupt edge where there should be ground.
A way to the next room presumably lies across the divide.
Theta attempts to levitate, but it seems the rules of this zone prevent that.
He tries to revert to pure spirit form. It is successful, but the doorway on the other side refuses to let him through.
He flies back to the side he came from and returns to his preferred form.
"What do you suppose we do here?" Theta looks over at Medi.

Probably wouldn't work on her if it didn't work for him, but it was the first thing that popped into her head.

Unsurprisingly, it doesn't work for her either.
Theta shines his flashlight at the rather large gap in the floor. The light is swallowed quite easily by the pit, no bottom in sight.
"..."
He just kinda looks down there in uneasy disappointment.
