During her speech announcing that she was now empress, HER was murdered by rapid-fire laser blasts. Whilst someone was quickly arrested, she decided to hold a proper trial (as in, one where the suspect has a chance of being judged Not Guilty), meaning that preparations had to be made.
The lady who was to be judge, who was requested to be an independent party, is now in the Desertia Courtroom, preparing it for the big day.

Clyde Rattlesnake, korosian duel expert, has arrived, largely to check the place out.
They whistle, impressed.

She returns the handshake. "I am doing well. I'm Echo, and I'm pretty sure my surname is an international secret." She looks around. "It was, this place is much better. It has the bonus of not being on the border of an irradiated exclusion zone."

"hm, good point. I've done a little boning up on Alternian duelist literature to prepare for this and I gotta say, the brutality and sheer lack of respect in most cases used to would not fly in a korosian courtroom arena worth its salt."
Clyde paces thoughtfully, taking inventory of any potential stage hazards that might interfere with the safety of anyone present.
"If there even is any wrastlin' involved, it's gotta be fair, with no weapons aside from natural ones, even some of those held back for safety, and with clear ground rules on how far any fight is allowed to go. Usually only the most heated court cases end up reaching a combat phase, and that's usually when the snake battle clause is invoked. any questions so far?"

"No questions so far. It lines up with my earlier research." Echo acknowledges. "According to Alternian customs, I am supposed to be a giant monster that will eat the defendant and anyone I find annoying. That is a tradition we will not be implementing."
