The Charcherry Weekly
Hello, Mage of Light Nick Card here! We've reached the end of 2022! Where the heck has the year gone? There's still a week of news to cover at least.
On December 24th, Heir of Time Thoren Emit took off to the skies in a rocket powered sleigh with their child, Shard Emit. Together, they delivered presents across Starter Planet, including the first batch of the new Greatdex model that Rogue of Heart Charles had recently finished in time for Redistro. By some Redistro miracle, Thoren was able to deliver presents just as they could before. Granted, they wound up having to sleep for multiple days after that, but they succeeded in fulfilling their santa duties for the year.
The next day, Thoren's autumnal sister, Brae Emit, invited everyone to her cabin home for a holiday party with potluck style dinner. A good number of people showed up, though it seemed to take multiple days for everyone to arrive. It's hard to tell. There were a few pokemon battles in the backyard, one with Your dear newsletter writer against Spirit of the hunt Gwyn, who now has a full team from their Orange Island pokemon adventure. I faced off against them with Slope and Sunburst. While it was a surprisingly even match-up, their team managed to hold on better than mine, largely due to being able to hit harder and remembering to hold berries. I will say it was a lot more satisfying than our first battle together!
The other battle was between Charles and PKMN breeder HAZEL. Their battle was quite swift, as Charles had their team from Unova, while HAZEL had her rather powerful and mixed team. There was a number of rapid switches at some point. It was a heated bout, but somehow Charles and his team managed to emerge victorious. They seemed surprised at their win as well.
After that battle, there was talk about setting up a potential high level match at Unity Gym, at some point in January, to show the locals what a high level pokemon battle can look like, though details are still developing on that.
At some point near the end of the party, Seer of Space Jessica met Miracle Child Shard Emit, and they immediately bonded over their fraught lack-of-sibling experiences.
Pretty much everyone received a magically fitting sweater with a neat personalized design from Brae, and an invisibility cloak from Page of Mind Samm.
Overall, it was a nice occasion.
This week’s known market stands in Desertia Town:
-Wine glass stand (this week)
-Matchbook stand (this week)
-Katie’s potion stand (*CaFAI filling in for Katie when unavailable)
-Brae’s canned goods stand (currently closed for the time being)
-shinyjiggly pokesnacks stand (ran by Rufus)
New Year's is fast approaching and this year is largely behind us. What will 2023 hold? Will the Page of Darkness get punched in the face? One thing I know for sure is that I'll be busy with game development soon. A day of departure needs to be picked for the left beef crew, but that can wait while I'm working on pre-production stuff.
See you next year!
