The Charcherry Weekly
Hello everyone, Mage of Light Nick Card here. Stuck a bit closer to home this week. Well, as close as starter planet is to Desertia, for that matter.
Hitting Close to Home
Early this week, Your Dear Newsletter Writer decided to take a trip to slowpoke island. Having read the reports regarding the changes that took place, regarding the displacement of the original slowpoke population, and the berry crop that was planted there, I was prepared somewhat for what would be seen there. It tuned out, it wasn't quite as bad as I thought it would be. While yes, there was a rather large number of bug pokemon present on slowpoke island, there was a surprisingly low amount of crop damage. Seeing this, I decided to leave the bugs there. There's less need for relocation when not searching off-world, after all. And they probably provide a degree of biodiversity to the island anyways.
After that, I returned home to find that the larvesta was once again waiting for me. After weeks of benign pursuit, I finally captured the bug, adding it to my party. I called them Sunburst. They seem to enjoy sunbathing a lot, and seems to be cool with sticking close to the egg, as long as its outside on the balcony. Its a pretty sizable balcony so there's plenty of room for everyone, including Slope and her kiddie pool.
Meanwhile, I had somewhere that had been requested for a checkup that I didn't exactly feel comfortable bringing my pokemon along for. There were concerns regarding the presence of pokemon at the Door Of Origin, which effectively sits on an unprotected platform which orbits starter Planet. There is no air that high up, and I'm almost certain that the gravity is a lot weaker up there. Needless to say, its not the right place for most bug pokemon.
Upon arriving, I had discovered a trio of shedinja, or at least, that's what my ultradex seemed to identify them as. I think the harsh conditions of space may have had an effect on their evolution? Is it even accurate to refer to it as an evolution when its extremely likely that they probably just died or something? Something tells me I probably shouldn't even write about them, in the fear that many more nincada might wind up being made to suffer through the ordeals of cosmic hell. I'm, actually not sure what to do about them, as I'm extremely unsure of how they would fare back on starter planet. Would the increased gravity prove to be detrimental to them?
As for what I did, I decided to make a small memorial shrine for them, and any other bugs that endured the cruel fate of death in space. I decided to weave a wreath and attach a small wooden board with a short epitaph etched in it: "To all the bug pokemon who lost their lives in space, you will not be forgotten."
I placed the wreath at the foot of the Door of Origin and left the platform behind.
This makes me wonder. If I had arrived at the platform earlier, would I have been able to save any of them? How long can bug type pokemon survive in space? No sources I could access could tell me such an answer, and I sincerely hope that none ever will.
With that solemn task done, I password-locked the transportalizer pad that leads to space. The password will not be published for obvious reasons, but it can be given by direct request if needed. For now though, I'm gonna spend some time getting to know Sunburst.
In other news, apparently Desertian President Witch of Time Katyleen Kitten and her dear wife Samus Kitten have returned from their vacation recently. There is still no word on when Heirs of Time Rise and Thoren Emit, and Prince of Time Aeons Edgeworth are supposed to return home.
WHY IS THERE A NUKE?!
While I was busy monitoring the pokemon on slowpoke island, there had been reports of a nuclear gyrados, that had apparently consumed radioactive material found near the ocean base in Azure Ocean. Rogue of Heart Charles had been attacked by the gyrados, but somehow managed to survive? Like, I guess maybe he's gotten more resilient as a result of all the scientific mishaps and misfortunes that they've dealt with in the past? Regardless, Charles had to sit in a decontamination pod for a while, which apparently did what it needed to allow him to lead a party of dungeon crashers to the ocean base a day or two later.
Along with Charles, Bounty Hunter Samus Kitten, Warlock of Time Coleman, and his girlfriend Brae Emit were present. It appeared that there were a number of technical difficulties, and in the end, it was instead a primeape holding a fighting type Z-crystal that managed to defeat the nuclear gyrados. The trainer of the primeape reportedly was a bear from the Fyre nation, who apparently was so unimpressed by the nuclear gyrados's strength that word spread back in their home country to the point that nuclear research was brought to a standstill over there.
I guess that's one less thing to worry about?
I wonder if I should have shown up there to try and do something. On one hand, it might have given our group some better luck, but on the other, maybe we would have had to worry about more nuclear incidents in the future? Then again, its not exactly the best to ruminate on possibilities in the past like that. That's a mind aspect thing anyways.
Meanwhile, I still have no idea where in the heck Heir of Void Mimi So&so went off to. Maybe I'll need to ask around a bit later. For now though, I think I've done enough adventuring. I have left beef panels to catch up on drawing, and preparations to make for mine and HAZEL's eventual return to the Pinto region. Once Aeons gets back from their vacation, of course.
Maybe somebody else can do the rest of the bug hunting or something.
