The Charcherry Weekly
Hello! Aeons Edgeworth here! Another nice week, it seems. Its amazing just how much my quality of life has improved since pokemon showed up in my life.
A Detective’s Work is Hardly Ever Complete
Early this week, I interviewed Brae Emit. Before this, it had been tough to catch her at a time that we were both available, but she really went above and beyond on the hospitality front. We had a talk over some tea and tarts and it was a good time, as good as it can get when discussing harrowing events of the past and all. I thanked Brae for her time and eventually sent in the recording. At this point, there are only two known tasks: Interview someone from a doomed timeline, and seek out someone to become a public defender. Usually Katyleen Kitten would do this, but because she was directly involved in the incident as a victim (she’s still alive, just traumatized to a degree), somebody else has to take her usual legal role in court.
That being said, if anyone is interested in the position of Desertian public defender, please contact me @shinyjiggly on pestercord, tumblr, or the messageboard. You will likely have to be really good at absorbing law books, as Desertia has its own legal code which I don’t even know the first thing about. Whoever gets this position will be assigned to defend the currently detained individual, identified only as Quote Rightbracket (which is probably the most cyberpunk name I have ever heard).
Court date has yet to be decided, as the courthouse itself isn’t finished yet, last I checked. I’m assuming most of the wait is for the materials that had to get halfway across the planet, which is entirely desert sands, might I add. Maybe they might just be trying to make it deskslam-proof? Or at very least resistant to epic courtroom breakdowns.
Berries!
After a week or two of waiting, the berry trees I planted along Rose Lake River have finally matured! Its a fairly well rounded assortment of common berries. As to be expected, this attracted a great deal of wild pokemon, though thankfully a lot of them were friendly. I had witnessed a group of wooper singing and dancing around a pile of berries that they had harvested. Knowing that their efforts would likely bode well for natural replanting efforts, me and my party just sorta watched them from a safe distance for a while. I managed to record their song on my phone, but for some reason it doesn’t want to be posted anywhere public on the vanilla internet.
After they took off with their pull, me and my party, Pachirisu and Golby Jack, moved in and harvested what looked worth taking. I spent like, at least 2 hours shaking berry trees, and wound up getting a lot of berries out of it. At one point there was an encounter with a dewpider. It was fairly easy to defeat with Pachirisu, so there wasn’t much danger present.
Later on, we met a palpatoad that just sorta followed us. It looked like they wanted to join our group, but I had to decline the offer, since my current residence isn’t suited for those who need to live near water. Like sure, there is a kiddy pool on the balcony (Nick bought it for Slope to lounge in), but that doesn’t cut it for an amphibian, especially considering the desert climate. I gave the pokemon some berries to snack on and we had a good time.
The next day, I sent some berries over to Brae, in appreciation for the berries she let me take to plant in the first place. She was pretty thrilled about how many I sent over.
With the other half of the harvest in tow, I know I’m going to need to plant the rare ones, but I wonder what sorts of dishes can be made with berries beyond poffins and curries. I figure pancakes, muffins, smoothies, sauces, and jams would be easy to put berries into. I just hope my pokemon like what I wind up cooking for them.
Welcome to the Thunderdome
Earlier tonight, Warlock of Time Coleman initiated the official stress test of the dome’s new magical defense system. Me and my pokemon watched it from the balcony at home and it was quite a sight. Right off the bat, the whole thing glowed indigo and displayed a message (which was also verbally announced):
Soon enough, Coleman managed to obtain a huge fucking meteor to drop onto the dome, much to the terror of those that weren’t expecting Colman to actually get a literal meteor to test it with. Honestly I thought it was kinda thrilling, especially considering it showed just how much faith Coleman has in his handiwork. There was a second test with another meteor, which managed to work even better than the first. Both meteors were pushed back into space.
After that however, was the ultimate stress test: the might of a Rage player.
Page of Rage Jovin Castle was called upon to deliver one of his strongest punches to the dome from the outside. In the sky, pulsating letters appeared, forming the name of the skill:
PUNCH OF KILL EVERYTHING
Thankfully, we all survived, as the defense system was well prepared for Jovin’s attack.
Like sure, he did manage to get through almost all the layers, but considering it managed to hold fast on the dark rainbow layer, that’s gotta be considered an achievement. I feel a lot safer with this defense system in place, that’s for sure.
I can only hope that Coleman gets the rest that he needs after putting it together for a month straight.
While this town does feel safer, my heart still belongs to the pink and purple woods of charcherry forest. With countless pokemon to research and meet, it sounds like a better and better option every day. Apparently Rogue of Heart Charles is considering moving back as well, though this underlines the main issue with such a move: housing.
As some long-time readers may know, there is a builder’s union that much of the contracted builds go through. They know how to make high-quality structures, but it can be difficult to get an appointment, especially if you happen to be known as “Mr. Tower” *coughcoughcharlescough*. I plan on contacting someone with connections, but considering how high of an order it might be, I’ll want to make sure I have some sort of leverage first. Hopefully things work out soon.
That does it for now. Seeya next time!
