The Charcherry Weekly
Hello! Aeons Edgeworth here! My past self went back in time to become me so I guess I’m not the future version of myself all that much anymore. But that’s fine, I got things to do.
A Summoning
Early this week, there was a report of a gray ball in Hoopa’s collection having been replaced with an amulet coin, much like the one that replaced one of Lil’ B’s fangs. Being able to figure out a lead, I met up with Hoopa and managed to settle on a deal: I would assist Hoopa in returning home in return for their assistance in regards to meeting up with celebi. After trying and failing to send a note using the amulet coin as an anchor (I think the loops were too knotted or maybe the out of bounds meetings had something to do with it), we went up to where the grey ball was at for a location anchor that wouldn’t give me a piercing headache. I wound up getting a reply a little while later with a paper to the face, Celebi agreed to an interview at gene’s garden later in the week. Knowing that I wouldn’t be able to understand Celebi otherwise, I asked Hoopa to act as an interpreter. They agreed to this. From then, much time this week was spent waiting.
During this waiting period, my past self finally got discharged from the care of Meika and Amaia, and began their preparations to become their future self, who would eventually become me. Its still weird seeing another version of yourself from a slightly different time, because you’re both the same person, and yet distinct from one another, if only by experience and location. With all timeloops completed, I can finally confirm with minimal causal spoilers that there is a duo of pokemon from a rescue team located somewhere in the charcherry area! A bulbasaur with my old hat (I’m guessing they found it with the pokeball, I let them keep the hat since I was already gonna get a new one), and a torchic wearing a handkerchief. They were pretty cool and became part of a timeloop to deliver Golby Jack’s pokeball to me the first time around, since I had apparently left it in that cave during the incident there. Their current whereabouts are unknown, but I figure they’re not too far.
Meanwhile, me and Golby took a trip to the Region of Tile Sliding and Memory to do some training together, for experience and grist from various underlings. Turns out we make a pretty good team together. Its almost weird how fast we’ve become friends, though I wonder if their oddly low level had something to do with it. Yesterday I found an ultradex in my mailbox and I used it to check my golbat’s stats, and apparently they’re level 21, which is a level below what should be possible for a golbat to be at, since zubat don’t evolve until level 22 under normal circumstances. I wonder how hard it is to have to grow up so fast... I do wonder if Golby is trying to become a Crobat too fast as well? I don’t want them rushing into things so quickly. I wonder if I should try to find them a friend? It’d have to be a pokemon that I can take care of relatively easily while also caring for Golby. But I think they really need a lot of love and care.
in other news, at the end of our training session, I managed to successfully pull off that trick that lets you get any kind abstrata that you have an item for, and got a card for keykind by yeeting my keys at an imp and then defeating that imp. Thankfully, Golby was able to land the final blow and still have it count. Now I should be able to use the chronolatch much more efficiently! (did I mention this happened on the eve of the final smash announcement? like, that was too strong of a coincidence to just be a thing... right?)
Eventually, the day of the interview arrived, and I alchemized a fresh copy of my standard tweed suit, only to scuff it up by falling down the stairs in my haste. I went with Hoopa to Gene’s Garden, and we prepared for the interview. I got Celebi a stack of books to sit on, since they’re pretty short for booth seating. Hoopa set up a telepathic link, and I repeated what I heard verbally so it would be picked up on my phone’s recording app.
From what I could gather, the Celebi that went back to warn us about the meteor was a doomed offshoot, who died during the incident. It is very possible that the Alpha Celebi persists beyond that offshoot, as this version of Celebi remarked that the “council leader”, assumed to be the most future version of themself, was much older than the one who was directly involved with the meteor incident.
Now, after this, I finally asked the question that had been burning within me for weeks. I asked Celebi why they got involved with our group.
I was not entirely ready for the answer.
Celebi stated that Arceus Themself sent the Unown after the large amount of portals around Starter Planet were detected, and determined that Starter Planet needed more pokemon for the sake of diversity.
Extrapolating from this, it can be assumed that the pokemon that’ve appeared on starter have been officially accepted as being a thing permanently, and have received support for the sake of their well-being.
After this, Celebi mentioned that Arceus pretty much made them and sent them here to prevent things from going wrong, which apparently counts potential party-wipes involving us dungeon crashers.
It was at this point that I realized that we basically had an obligation to ensure the overall welfare of the pokemon upon Starter Planet, and that we’re a lot more important than some of us might think, to the point that we’re actually worth saving.
Like, do you realize how vast the cosmos is? How many tragedies unseen happen in the blink of an eye further than the eye can even see? How countless dramas occur in places never even fathomed of?
its very possible the only reason we still live to tell the tale is because of our close contact and admiration for pokemon.
After that question was answered, I didn’t have much else to say. I was speechless. I eventually managed to get Celebi to mention something as a last note, but then after that they took off. I do hope there’s something that can be done to honor their services and sheer courage in the face of armageddon.
Once the interview was done, I took Hoopa to go get some flowers, and they took off, but not before stating that their hoard now belonged to “the weird gold dragon type”, which can only be assumed to be Goldie, Rise Emit’s dragon companion.
With the interview behind me, I thought for a while. Knowing that one day there might be those who seek out the pokemon of Starter, I knew I would have to work my hardest to make sure things would be hospitable for both people and pokemon. I have an inclination towards wanting to be a pokemon professor, but I’m not sure how long that desire is going to last.
For now, I’m hoping that I can get some captcha codes from my sibling of some equipment that will be important later on. I’ve found a channel I can probably communicate with them to a degree, though I know I shouldn’t disturb them too much on their vacation. I’m sure a light side-quest won’t be too much of an issue though. In the meantime, I have berries to grow near the lake. Hopefully being that close to water will make it so I don’t need to be right there to water them all personally all the time, which should make things so much easier.
I think that about does it. I really hope that its okay to feed a golbat chicken noodle soup, because I just heated up a bowl of it for Golby after they barely won a battle against a blue basculin tonight.
Stay safe out there!
