"Wouldn't want it any other way." Flashella grins. When was the last time they even got a worthy opponent in the arena?
Either way, the crowd that's gathered is quite pumped for the contest to come.
Chapter 6: Into the Beholder's Eye
The stands are packed, despite the impromptu scheduling of the event. Nick and Slope are watching in the audience, absolutely thrilled to see a contest unfold. The air is alight with a palpable energy from the audience.
Soon the lighting changes, darkened, save for one spotlight upon the stage.
"People and pokemon of all ages! Welcome to the Crossroad City Pokemon Beauty Contest! Today we are having a special one on one performance duel! Featuring, the prevailing darling diva of our dear city, Flashella Darlingson!"
The crowd cheers as Flashella emerges from parted curtains. They open their bag and hold aloft the luxury ball in the see-through box. In a swift, practiced movement, they remove the ball from the box and gracefully throw the ball into the air!
"Miley, it's showtime!"
Miley the milotic emerges from the luxury ball, not unlike being summoned via the seven dragonballs. Miley floats gracefully in a figure 8 formation for an unending moment.
The crowd goes wild!
Despite how many times Miley must have done that entrance here, its still an audience favorite.
Nick can't help but be in awe by this display, despite Flashella and their milotic being their friend's opponent.
Meanwhile, Nick's parallel mom is at home watching tv, flipping through the channels. She happens to catch the contest on tv, and watches for a while.
Flashella sure knows how to put on a show, that's for sure.
"Now, for our challenger, hailing from New Bark Town, the well-seasoned veteran trainer and coordinator, HAZEL!"

"Time to wow the audience, FLOWER!"
FLOWER hops out of their Ultra Ball, surrounded by an explosion of flower seals and shiny sparkles. They twirl and spin in the effect, before landing delicately onto the ground.
The shiny Shaymin was adorned in accessories, including a golden Leaf Crown.
It's just a MILOTIC this time? Predictable.
Don't be sassy on stage.

The audience grows even louder than before, absolutely enamored with FLOWER's display! Flashella scoffs off to the side, trying not to look impressed. "HELL YEEEEAAAHHH!!!!!" Nick yells out from the crowd, thankfully only just barely topping out above the cacophony of the other audience members. Soon enough, after a minute of straight noise, the crowd is settled down to a degree. The judge sits at one of three booths. It appears only one is called into action in a 1 on 1 contest duel. And of course, it's Nurse Joy, because who else would it be. Her professional smile seems unbroken, but she seems to be enjoying what she sees this time around. Its better than seeing noob coordinators getting their asses handed to them as usually happens every week, that's for sure. She quietly takes notes on the condition and execution of the appearances. "Now that the introductions are complete, let us begin the talent phase!" The announcer calls out. -- Talent phase: Round 1 -- "Miley, use Aqua Ring!""Miloooooooo!" Miley expertly swims in the air, a torus of water appearing around them! Its somewhat expected by the crowd, knowing Miley's moveset quite well at this point, but its the set-up that counts. Miley appears to be calm and collected within the aqua ring. |

HAZEL stands poised over the uproar, only the smallest hint of a smirk on her face which she quietly gets back under control.
"Let's give this crowd a real showstopper, FLOWER!"
Seed Flare?
Yes.
Their Gracidea flowers begin to shine, taking in the CO2 in the air as they give a dignified walk around the stadium. They begin to sparkle, releasing a dazzling flash of light once they hit full brightness!
❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ (startle weakness)
"Let's hit them with Earth Power!"
FLOWER nods, shining in a brilliant yellow glow as hallucinatory cracks appear around them, also shining a bright gold.

The audience is getting quite pumped from seeing FLOWER perform so beautifully! Nurse Joy can be seen smiling.
The aqua ring fades from Miley, having provided its protection.
"Miley, use mirror coat!"
Miley takes on a highly reflective sheen, made more dazzling by the lingering illusion of earth power!
The crowd is wowed by this, offering double appeal points!

A ring of light blue spheres surrounds FLOWER, firing harmless off in all directions. Although it boosts 3 hearts, the Clever category move reduces the crowd excitement by a point.

Miley calls upon a great wave which rises above them in a glistening crest! They gracefully dip into the wave and emerges on top of it!
The wave washes over the stage, threatening to push FLOWER off!

The startled Shaymin jumps out of the water in an undignified way, clinging onto their trainer's hat for safety. HAZEL has a daring look on her face, as she roots through her bag. In accordance with the rules of contests however, she gestures to Flashella to use the next move.

While checking her Pokegear briefly during the match, it crashed and became incredibly hot. HAZEL thrusts it into the cascading water from Surf, wincing as her hand burns slightly. She then pockets it once it cools down, still steaming...That'll be a pricey repair bill.

The surf washes the overheated pokegear out of her hand and nearly off the stage! Some of the fans in the front-seats notice this cascade of blunders and send off some posts via the social media site Pidgeyparcel, mostly gawking at the ridiculous surf diss that was laid down, FLOWER's seemingly cowardly reaction, despite being a grass type, and the sheer age of HAZEL's now-inoperable Pokegear, not to mention the fact that she was chatting in the middle of a contest in the first place. Nick yells from some higher up seats. "HANG IN THERE, HAZEL AND FLOWER!" -- Final round -- Flashella is looking extremely smug, for somebody who is probably going to lose. At least they managed to hit with their most devastating move. "Alright Miley. Let's finish this up with Icy wind.""Milotiiic!"The stage becomes a few degrees colder, ice crystals appearing in midair. An inexplicable breeze from Miley's location propels the ice crystals forwards, lights dancing off of them! Its not exactly a showstopper, but its going to take something good to top it, that's for sure. |

Fortunately, HAZEL has something good planned. She pulls out a large bag of pokemon-safe glitter, tearing it and releasing it as a large cloud! "Seed Flare!"
FLOWER takes in the magic smoke released by the pokegear, and some of the glitter to release a brilliant shining Seed Flare, which is highly reflected in the twinkling glitter hanging in the air. HAZEL walks over to retrieve her phone, sighing under her breath.

And the crowd goes wild! The seed flare, with the magic smoke, bag of glitter, and the remnants of the ice crystals hanging in the air has completely overshadowed Miley's earlier display!
Meanwhile, Flashella is absolutely pissed off. Is bringing glitter for a finalle showstopper even contest-legal?
"YEEAAHH!!!!!" Nick screams, standing up from their seat!
Nurse Joy is dazzled by the final seed flare! Its quite possibly the most beautiful thing she's ever seen in all of her years of judging these contests.
Nick's parallel mom and her Mr. Mime companion are transfixed by the seed flare shown on tv!
Pidgeyparcel is lighting up with images and short videos of FLOWER's final seed flare, quickly spreading across the blogosphere!
Somewhere very far away, in an entirely different region, someone is scrolling through their parcelreel and they happen to see a blurry 5 second video of FLOWER's final seed flare, posted right after one of the same pokemon clinging to their coordinator's trademark poofy hat. One must wonder how HAZEL managed to make her hat work so well with her stage dress.
The scroller seems intrigued.
Have they seen something like that last move before...?
Meanwhile, back at the contest, the crowd has been cheering so much that they still haven't settled down after a full minute of noise and applause. Finally though, the lights change, and Nurse Joy steps out of her box to announce the results. The audience calms down, though they know exactly who is going to win.
"And the winner is... HAZEL and FLOWER, by an absolute landslide! Congratulations!"
FLOWER is given the Crossroads Beauty Duel ribbon!
In their rage, Flashella screams and throws their sunglasses off stage, smacking some hapless audience member! Thankfully the sunglasses didn't have too hard of an impact, but Flashella sure won't be getting those back any time soon. Likely they'll either end up in a collection or soon to be listed on keckleonshop.
"how DARE you, step into MY HOUSE... and utterly HUMILIATE me... and my pokemon... on NATIONAL TELEVISION... AND ACROSS THE ENTIRE INTERNET!!!" Flashella's make-up is visibly smearing from the tears streaming from their livid face.
Miley, clearly being far more cool and collected of the two, leads their trainer backstage so they can cry and scream for an hour straight. With Flashella too distraught to be there for the ending, Miley slides on over to HAZEL and FLOWER to offer a respectful handshake with their tail.
To them its just another performance. Winning and losing is all the same, as long as there's still a show.

Chapter 7: As Luck would have it At some point afterwards in the lobby, a swarm of fans spot HAZEL and go running towards her! "THERE SHE IS!" "HOLY HANGNAIL ITS HAZEL!" "CAN YOU SIGN MY ELBOW?!" "I'M YOUR GREATEST FAN!!!!" "NO I'M YOUR GREATEST FAN! I'VE FOLLOWED YOU ON TRAINERWATCH SINCE YOU TOOK ON THE POKEMON LEAGUE!" "who the hell still uses trainerwatch?" "HAZEL SIGN MY COLLECTIBLE BOBBLEHEADS!!" HAZEL is quite well surrounded by rabid fans, all trying to get her attention. Meanwhile, Nick and Slope are cluelessly trying to find where HAZEL went off to, somehow not too far away in the same room. "Where you think HAZEL ended up going, Slope?""slow.""Well yeah, but slow where?""slowpoke?  " |
