Soon enough, Charon lands in front of the duo in front of the pokemon center. The rider climbs off of the dragon-like pokemon and stands before the bystanders. "Do either of you know where to find someone by the name of Nick Card? I've got some things to speak to them about." |

The rider slips off their go-goggles, revealing obsidian eyes, burning with a familiar flame of ambition.
"My name is Diamond. I've been sent by a group that's been tracking down anomalies that may be linked to Team Abyssal. Sources tell me that Card may be what is considered a 'faller', and therefore may have information about the foreign organization that claims to be from another dimension. Do either of you know anything of the sort?"

Nick stares at Diamond, even more convinced. They recognize the Emit Ambition right away. A little confused by the blue hair, but it certainly wouldn't be the first time they've seen someone familiar with oddly blue hair.
They turn to face HAZEL.
"...HAZEL, I think we can trust Diamond here. I've met somebody from back home that has that same look. And besides, we're gonna need all the help we can get."
Nick waits for HAZEL to give any sort of ok before saying too much else.

"...Pleased to meet you. I suppose anything you know about Team Abyssal would be helpful."

Nick shakes hands with Diamond, glad that they aren't being expected to battle so quick out of bed, even if it is already 11-something in the morning.
"Well, I've certainly heard about them before, but unfortunately my firsthand information is pretty limited. What I do know is that they have ties to an energy company called voidco. They operate outside of all known universes, and have ridiculously unethical business practices. We've recently found evidence of voidco activity in the area, though I think most of it was claimed by the local cops."
Nick stops talking for a moment and their stomach grumbles.
"eheh... I haven't exactly had breakfast yet."

"Let's head to the local hotcake house, my treat."

At some point during the walk, Nick's phone buzzes. They check their messages. They got one from...
...their other self.
Nick has a feeling things are about to kick up a notch...
Chapter ??: Planning over Pancakes
The group has made it to the most popular hotcake house in Crossroad City. The place is pretty bustling at this time of day.
Nick sits at a table with the group, picking out something on the menu.
"So.... you're after this team abyssal group thingie? How did you get into this sorta thing?"

"Let's just say I know some people in certain places." Diamond has already picked what they want, their menu closed neatly in front of them.
"But that's not important right now."
They take a drink of water.
"How much pokemon training experience do you have? With things sounding like something could go down any moment, its important to be prepared."

Nick thinks for a moment.
"Well, I used to play a lot of games about pokemon training, so I know my stuff in theory... but in practice I only just got my trainer's license and haven't trained my pokemon very much like, at all. Not a single actual badge to my name."
They glance at the menu some more. The waffle + sausage + egg combo looks pretty good right about now.
"My slowpoke is pretty strong though. Not like, super strong, but definitely a lot stronger than your average starter."

Diamond facepalms.
Just what they need, a bookish simulationist.
"Let me tell you one thing, those bozos at Gamefreak may make decent games, but its no replacement for the real thing. There's factors that game developers never even dreamed of out there when it comes to pokemon battles. And if these team abyssal fucks have extradimensional ties, there's a good chance they might have tricks that no book has gotten a chance to write down yet. We need to be prepared for that."

Before anyone can say much else, the waiter shows up to the table and asks for everyone's orders.
The orders are relayed as expected.
The menus are returned and everyone's water is refilled.
