The Charcherry Weekly
Hello everyone, Mage of Light Nick Card here. I'm a bit conflicted on how to feel this week. on one hand, something happened, but at the same time, it had some tragic effects. I guess somebody's gotta report the news though.
Ludomancy strikes again
Early this week, the RMN 14th Birthday event occurred and your dear newsletter writer Mage of Light Nick Card managed to successfully make a short game in under 14 distributed hours! The game created is known as Birthday Dream, and it involves Heir of Time Rise Emit wandering about searching for 14 waddle dee babies across a grand total of 14 maps. It was received quite well, but unfortunately it became prophetic like the rest of the games under my belt.
The effects of ludomancy would not be a problem, but it seems that because there was at least one game over case, it had caused at least one doomed timeline to be brought to light. This lead to a very real doomed timeclone appearing in Rise Emit's room at Arkham hospital, right outside of Desertia town. Reportedly, the vast majority of the hospital staff was horrified at the sight of the dead body. Fortunately, the doomed timeclone was given a proper burial soon after.
Reportedly, cause of death was cardiac arrest while asleep, assumed to have been symbolically killed in the dream in such a way that severed the ties, rather than causing a wake-up.
The service was held in New Charcherry, at the graveyard behind the Cherry Pit Inn. In attendance was Desertian President Witch of Time Katyleen Kitten, Rogue of Heart Charles, and Alpha Heir of Time Rise Emit, from two days in the future. Their present self was unable to attend due to their hospital discharge date being the day after.
Reportedly, Charles managed to drink to the point of becoming blackout drunk, and was later found trying to sleep on a sand dune somewhere in Desertia Town. Rise returned back to their own time soon after the funeral, having completed their duty towards their fallen counterpart.
The next day, Rise Emit was released from the hospital, after literal weeks of bed-bound recovery. Reportedly, they spent the day at the swimming pool, waiting a full day until travelling back in time to attend the funeral. They arrived back in the present shortly after.
One must wonder who is considered responsible for tragedies which appear in games that ripple outwards into experienced reality. Is it the creator of the games? is it the player who gives them validity? Is it the appointed antagonist present in the game? It's getting too late at night for these kinda questions for me.
