The camera zooms in, closer and closer to the Windows XP desktop in Alpha!Katie's eyes. It breaches through into the control room staffed by Alpha!*DeusEx, with screens showing what she sees. Of course, this room only handles the absolute necessaties. Her heart, her lungs, all the things a normal human subconscious handles. As well as all the implant control, HUD information, data processing, and probability calculation. And, a small projector with a slot for a small translucent sphere. This is a common feature within The powerCity. It's a Memory Projector, of course, and it's generally operated by *DeusExs. By simply operating the Memory Database, a *DeusEx can retrieve any memory his Katie requests to re-experience. It's a quite ingenious system, and of course, those poor Katies without a *DeusEx to call their own can still operate them. It just requires learning the database themself, or paying a *DeusEx-For-Hire to help them. Of course, all the main decisions and orders for the body are given in the room below, Alpha!Katie's room.
...What? You don't know the powerCity?
Where are my manners, of course you don't.
Here, let me show you around.
The camera phases through the wall of Alpha!*DeusEx's Control Room. And it exits on the other side of the top floor of a dizzingy tall skyscraper. This is, of course, the Skyscraper of the Alpha. A building with mostly empty rooms, after all, you can't have been Doomed to live here. But, it's so tall because of the importance of the Alpha. No building can stand taller than it. However, it's only one part of the sprawling mental city. The camera pans around. There's a tower constantly on fire, home of those who lost their Alpha status during the Great Fire of the Land of Copper and Lasers. A large Copperey Sea can be seen on the border, with a harbor connecting it to the roads of the City. Pirate ships are docked there, of course, and the Katies that crew them have outfitted themselves with spotlight cannons, foam swords, and nerf SMGs. They play fight as they desire out on the Sea, remembering the glorious Piracy days of the Great Flood of the Land of Copper and Lasers that claimed so many of their Alpha statuses... but also gave them lots of fun with their friends. A recreation of Katie's Spire stood in the distance, home to all of those who lost their Alpha status in the early days of the session. There's even a small patch of the Land of Ink and Roses within the city, home to a recreation of the infamous HQ for those who prefer to spend their time there. And... is that a recreation of Rise's Spire out past the outskirts..? ...This must be where The Fallen Ones, those who found the Dieary in a Madness dungeon state, live.
But, there's also just restaurants and businesses recreated from the Memory Database. A recreation of that Cinemark right by where Katie used to live shows curated movies from the Database. It also shows new movies edited together and created by some incredibly crafty Katies leverging the action, comedy, drama, and suspense within her memories of the Session and beyond. "Dungeon500" (2020) is a current hit of the Memory Editors.
Katies run around the street, sometimes joined by the AI avatars of their *DeusEx. MoonAKMoonSprites can be seen sometimes wandering within the crowds, both in the Sprite form seen within the Session, and the anthro form seen in Gene. Some Katies walk the city with Figments of their friends, loose reconstructions based on their memories of them. It didn't beat the real thing of course, but it was a comfort for those who partook in it.
Now... is there any particular Katie you'd like to watch on your visit today? If you can't think of one, don't worry. I'm sure I can think of one to visit.
