The human Witch of Time transportalized herself onto Derse, uncaptchaloging a high-strength VPS beacon. She flipped the device upside down and "HIT THE LEVER" to activate it. She set it rightside-up and it began broadcasting it's location across The Furthest Ring. She decided to wait on the warm Dream Kingdom instead of just sitting in an ice cave freezing her ass off.

The absolute silence of the dead session started to get to her after an hour, and she transporalized herself back into the Frog Temple, resolving to pass the time by exploring the cave.

The dark violet city is ominously quiet, but it's not completely empty. Occasionally one or two dersites can be seen walking along the main roads, but they are bey much far and in between.
There appears to be quite a bit of tattered festive decorations hanging from high places, though they look like they should have been removed years ago. Some windows of some apartment flats are boarded up, but some of them seem to have been repaired, slowly but surely.
An ominous wind blows through the streets, making litter sweep past like fallen leaves.

Niki appears upon the transportalizer, in a back alley of sorts. She's hit by a wave of nostalgia upon seeing the sights. It reminds her of the Derse of her home session. Many of the procedural generated buildings and locations were heavily based upon what she remembered from that Derse.
An faded wanted poster is hung up on a brick wall, tattered in places. A sketch of an all-too-familiar heir of time with a mean scowl is depicted upon it.
The bounty for his capture appears to be quite an astronomical amount of boondollars, though considering the possibility of hyperinflation, maybe it's not actually that much.
It asks for his capture, dead or alive. If Niki were interested in earning some worthless monopoly money, maybe she'd show them proof of his downfall.
But she has more important things to think of.
"Where the heck is Katie... ➜" Niki looks around a bit more. She doesn't seem to see Katie anywhere nearby.
She walks out of the alleyway and begins to wander, slipping into her old sleepwalking patterns of a forgotten night.

Niki sees a message from Katie on her glassestop. Apparently she's a couple blocks away.
Remembering some of the pre-made structures added in and where they were close to, she tries to remember where the park benches were supposed to appear.
She has no idea where that would be.
Evergreen trees however, aren't added to Derse natively.
It must have been planted during the session.
Niki decides to fly once again.
She lifts up off the ground, above the buildings.
She looks around for the tree.
It sticks out like a sore thumb against the purple backdrop of the city.
Niki zooms off towards the tree a few blocks away.
Niki lands upon the sidewalk with light steps. A few dersites seem to be staring.
Sure enough, it appears Katie is asleep on the park bench nearby.
Niki smiles slightly. It's been too long since she's been able to spend some time with Katie.
She remember back to the last day of her quest to find Ben. When they were staying at a guest house on Augataur.
She vividly remembers watching the sun rise for the last time with Katie eight before the Rift swept them across space and time. It was a moment that felt like forever.
Almost as if on cue, some of the scenery appears to change.
The sunrise from her memory... it peaks through the gaps between buildings.
Light has shown upon the dark kingdom.
Niki takes a long pause to appreciate the firey orange glow of the sun, not really taking the time to think about it's nonsensical appearance.
The dersites nearby seem shocked at the sudden light, scrambling back into the shadows.
Despite this though, Niki slowly steps towards Katie. She isn't fond of waking others up, but she figures since the sun is rising, it should be time to get up anyways.
She nudges Katie a bit.
"Katie, wake up. It's morning. We need to get going soon. ➜"
Unknown to Niki, her outfit has changed to her old derse dreamer nightgown.

Groggily, Katie woke up. Her back hurt and... the sun was in her eyes? "Niki! It's been a long time, hasn't it. Why is there a sun on Derse though? I appreciate the light and all, feels like I'm on Prospit, but there shouldn't be a light source out here. Something weird is going on..."
Unknown to Katie (yet) her God Tier outfit suddenly became covered in stone dust, and her arms looked like she'd been cut multiple times and the blood was left to dry. There was strangely no other evidence of the cuts, but the blood was there all the same. In addition, she had a light blue accented Voltron Force bracelet on her right arm. (( reference image)) |

"...Katie! What happened to you? ➜" Niki is shocked by the sudden appearance of Katie's injuries.
"Wait, the sun? On Derse... ➜"
Sure enough, Niki looks out towards the sunbeams striking out betwixt shadowy apartment flats. Thanks to Elsey's bright vision enchantment, she doesn't have to squint at it.
Then again, there seems to be a very unreal quality about it, as if the light were untrue.
In fact, it seems the prismatic fields of color have made their home upon the black backdrop where the sun's rays do not reach.
"Oh great... it's spread here too... what do we even do about this... ➜"
Niki sighs, running out of hope fast. At least she still has her mission to distract herself with though.
"...Are you ready to join me on a trip back to our group? Kat's waiting with Elsey and the others on her ship. They didn't seem to know much more than I did about the rainbow road, but considering the likely source, I'm not liking what it might mean... ➜"

"What happened to me? I've just been sleepin- oh."
Katie suddenly realized that she looked just like she did in the dome, but that was impossible, right?
"Th-this is what I looked like in Dome, but, it should have vanished with my dream avatar. It's all healed underneath the blood though, don't worry. Let's get going, and hopefully I don't knock us off course with a stray bit of castle stuck to me. I don't know what's going on, but this can't be a good fucking sign."
Katie stands up and grabs onto Niki's shoulder. Anyone behind her would see that the upper back of her Witch dress was roughly cut, like it'd been hit with a battleaxe. What was visible of her back was covered in dried blood, the dress sticking to it. Her back was flawless underneath the blood, but you certainly couldn't tell just by looking at it.
"Shall we be off? I'm excited to see everyone else."

Niki assists Katie up to her feet. "Yeah, let's go. ➜"
She leads Katie towards the direction of the transportalizer and walks with her.
"You know, I miss when we used to go on adventures that didn't have such catastrophic results. I thought going on that trip to Korous would be like the good old days, but it's not the same. Especially with Seth's mood swings and all. I think he should like, get some medication for that. ➜"
Niki and Katie continue walking together.
The sun has faded, but the violet cobblestone street has been replaced with a dusty road of reddish tinted dirt and pebbles. Like something out of an old western.
"Really, it was just a ton of walking and waiting for the next hazard to show up. The minutes felt like hours at times. I really miss you quite a bit, Katie. Things just aren't the same anymore... ➜"

"Yeah, Time's really gotten all flipped turned upside down... Sorry. It's been different since the session ended, that's for sure. I've missed you and Kim, hanging out with the 'Pawns just isn't the same. Desertia is such a throwaway planet, there's not even a single dungeon! After this is all over, it'd probably be pretty fun to explore Gene. Flying from shuttleport to shuttleport on one of the many spaceships we've got sitting 'round collecting dust. What's been going on with Seth, though? I know Thoren got himself a fiancée, the v1 version of Kat if you can believe it. I just wish all these secret five times fakeout super death bosses would fuck off. We deserve a happy ending, god dammit."
As she talked, her appearance slowly changed. The dried blood and dust fading away, her god tier outfit switching to an old "MS Bike Ride Volunteer" T-shirt (in a rather bright shade of green, I might add) and some cutoff jeans. Even her blue shades disappeared, revealing her augmented eyes. Her left eye was it's natural shade of dirty hazel, while her right eye seemed to be playing a recording of a LoCaL dungeon dive. It's hard to tell which dungeon it is, but it's possible to make out Niki, Kimura, and Gambit in the recording. They look like they're having fun.

"I think it would be cool travelling the stars with you. ➜" Niki smiles for once.
"I'm sure we could either talk Kat into taking us places, or we could try and get the Quinn Second running again or whatever. That is, if everything turns out for the best... ➜"
Niki's smile fades again.
"Seth... he's been obsessed with rescuing Kat ever since he heard the news. We've managed to find her, but with everything he's gotten into and how much he's been suffering in one way or another, it's kinda worrying what might happen with him next. I swear, it's like he's trying to beat Charles's high score in a pain contest. ➜"
Niki's outfit has changed to her old standby, which was already quite close to her actual outfit, but with a key difference: the hat appears to be the old stained tan pin hat. The black bedsheet ducttape cape is currently invisible.
The alleyway appears to be just across the street.

"We all need a rest after this fight for sure. A real rest, not just being asleep while fighting whatever is making trouble again. From what I've seen, Thoren's love for Raine has really helped him straighten his life out, maybe it'll work for Seth too... I'm scared by this bubble, honestly. The Scourge was talking about wiping Paradox Space away and building some kind of utopian universe. (Honestly, I think Omega pulled off the Cyrus-I-know-better-than-you thing better though.) It sure seems like if he gets enough control over this bubble, he could actually do it. I think our best way to stall his plans while we fight him would be having as many people trying to influence the bubble as we can. It's a power-struggle, if we let him control the dream completely, we've already lost."
Having reached the Transportalizer, Katie waits for Niki to go through.

"...seriously? He's pulling a Cyrus? I forgot, how did he get stopped in those games again? Eh, whatever." Niki shrugs. Upon hearing her plan however, she seems to light up a bit.
"Wait, do you think that could really work? Like, considering the bubble is covering pretty much all over, and he's the bubble master apparently, do you think we could really overthrow him?"
Niki looks over at the transportalizer. "I wonder... do you think maybe, we could make this thing lead somewhere else? I know engineering a dynamic memory link is possible, but do you think we'll be able to define one here?"
